It was one of Paul's theological side effects when he wrote to the first century church, and his words are just as potent today.
Like all fallen creatures, men are not acting like they were originally designed to. Thus, we have the writings of Paul to the Corinthians in chapter 16:13. Men need to be constantly reminded to be men, because post fall our bent is to not operate as men. In the context of 1 Corinthians 16, Paul is specifically referencing men's actions in relationship to their faith in Christ and relationships within the body of Christ.
So it is today, that men need to "act like men", meaning be strong, and stand firm in the faith.

New Start
A new start is easier after the first of the year and not on the first. This way one has a chance to mentally test the new program for the new year (or create one because I forgot), without actually doing it, and therefore without failing to follow through. However, the challenge in this approach is not doing anything at all, either new, or changing a pattern or behavior that needs to go. That is why I have chosen to start again, this time with content that is meaningful and useful.

I made a salad today; avocado and mango. It was good. It's the middle of summer. Summer school is almost done. I started my senior practicum today. I will be working a charter high school in Portland. Oh yeah, I have been gorging myself on fiction since school got out. I feel like, well, I am not sure, but I am blessed for the rest this summer.

Re-Flexions
Yeah, I'm aware I misspelled the title, but is it an error if the author meant to do it? Mind mush! This is me. Last week of school, finals. There are many thoughts I have been musing on, yes it's possible even with mind mush, but only a few stick. One, is that every time I come to the Word I must leave my presuppositions at the "door," and look with fresh eyes. Second, I know very little. Third, I know less than that. Fourth, it is a privilege to walk with God. Lastly, I am humbled by His mercies.

Sick...
Being sick is lame! I have a massive test in two days, and a huge paper next week. Again being sick is lame. I am reminded of the body of death that we dwell in. Just a common cold brings the stark awareness of the reality of death. Lord give me the grace to see through an ailment to see into your promises of rest and peace.

My wife and I recently participated in a relationship enrichment seminar. Some of the material was new, but mostly it was a chance for us to work through some things. I am a fan of maintenance, especially preventative maintenance. That way when problems do arise, it is much less costly. One thing that we talked about was assertive communication. This means we actually tell each other what we really want, instead of suggesting it. This is huge for us, since we both have differing personalities. This takes both humility and boldness to do it well. What do you think?

Lasagne
This was my first time making it from scratch. I must say it tasted good. It was my wife's recipe, and it only took 3 1/2 hours including baking time!!! We had company over, and as always it was good to share in peoples lives. On another note, we got wind that Debra's job may be invaded by a supervisor who is getting invaded. We shall see. The Lord is good, so we will be taken care, it just might look different than it did last week.
